My N.P.A. Experience(by:Laura Garzon)

Well, let me tell you that, my National Peace Assembly experience was one of my worst experience in my whole life. All began so good, it was 27 and we where just beggining with the an introducing ceremony, it looked like it would be a good day. I was from the United States delegation and after the assembly I saw that was my worst desision, but that was later.
So, I was from "Water as a fundamental right", so we start with the firt crisis... it was about a tube that was broken in Villavicencio by FARC with a bomb. In this crisis I talk no more than 3 times, so It seems that I was good until that moment.
But then the second crisis become... ouch!, in this crisis I was involved, so all the delegates start to attack me and I was no prepared, I was in shock and I can anser to all the delegant... this was the first ugly experience that day, because, the president saw that I can answer to the other delegates, so he deicded to help me... that was even worst to not answer the delegates by myself, because it was enough shame to me that all delegates think I can do it alone.
The 3rd crisis was good, I didn't talk to much but I wasn't attacked like the other crisis.
But that was not the worst thing, in the final ceremony, they start to give a kind of prizes like "The most beauty delgate" and things like that... so imagine, I win the worst prize... the OUT OF THE TRACK PRIZE!!!! I was so stupefied, I can't believed it, I try to stay in calm until I get to my house.
As a conclution was my worst experience ever.

My experience at NPA by: Maria Camila Ochoa

Im going to tell you about my experince at npa:

It was a nice opportunity to learn more about how to make a debate and also the use of english some times. I was so confused because there were many new things sometimes I didnt use the parlamentary language and all those things, but it doesnrt matter I learn a lot.

I also met new people and now i know more or less how are real things in life and the opinion of different people.

There we can see different kind of delegates with a lot of experience normal and with no t a lot of experience

My expirience in N.P.A was very nice from been of the delegation of "state counsil" then we decide our comisions I was in "water as a fundamental rigth" , it was a long process since we learn lenguage and actitude in english class with Luisa Parra and then it comes the regersal in the afternoon program by the social science deparmet , then we do our paper position then miss Adriana give back us the paper position with the corresponding corrections. Then everybody thinks we were ready, but the true was that we were very nervus

The day come it was 27 of march we were going to the colisium... every body was all ready organize our paper positions now were perfect and we were wating for the begining of the event after the words of miss Adriana, Glenda, and Joany, we go to our commision with our presidents in my casse Santiago Reyes and Santiago Grisales.

The first topic was "the aqueduct of Villavicencio" (the bomb that exploded in the aqueduct that affects the whole city).This debate is not reached a clear conclusion as the delegate of the FARC was not very respectful also proposed a radical change agreement between the FARC and the Colombian FARC to be removed without the need for water to the other but However, my delegation is not paresis and they should not have the right to water because they strike terror group however tube was noted that every human being needs water to live then I consider the idea.

The second crisis was that a United States state contaminating the Amazon River with toxic waste and was affecting the indigenous communities in their health, and part of Brazil so that all delegations to United States accused without real tests and not United States while both said that the pollution they produce but not the FARC. For its part, the FARC said they could not because they needed water. never really came to a conclusion I agreed with the representative of radical change because their solution was posoble began a process of decontamination of the river, step by step with governments nearby.

After a lunch break and go to our 3 and last crisis also related to pollution of the water was almost the same as the last crisis, then we working papers posed possible solutions, and thus the role labor work my step group (U.S., State Council, Party of the U ...). Lugo had the final reunion with all the presidents and all Delage gave prizes NPA and the press after that went home with the great satdisfacción of my having had a great experience.

THE GHOSTS PROTECTORS (by: Maria Cmila Ochoa Mosquera).

Once upon a time, it was a very find and beautiful house, there lived a small family it was maked up by three people a girl that her name is Paloma and her parents where Emiliano his father and Camila his mother.
In 1910 it was a normal day but it was a dark day and it seemed that something bad would pass. This find family was in the house and suddenly it was a very strong sound on the first floor so Emiliano went downstairs and for his surprise there was five rovers with guns and arms so his started to run up stairs but it was too played, the rovers catch him and then taked out the gun an day shut him three times. Suddenly in that precise moment he die, when Camila and Paloma Heard the shut they went to see what was happening so they saw the rovers and the Emiliano covered with blood and they wanted to do something but they can not do anything because rovers still being there. The rovers steal many things of the house. It in one moment became empty, Camila and Paloma tried to call the policeman but the rovers were so intelligent and they disconnected the telephones; but in 1910 it don´t exist cellphones or those things that in now days exist so they can´t do anything. Then They didn’t have any option so they looked the door and they stayed there until the rovers went a way ( Play after half hour) They went fast to Emiliano´s body as they can but he already went to heaven but it spirit was going to be there all life taking care of his daughter and his wife; the neighbors went a way of those houses near that want because they said that it was Emiliano´s spirit he was avenging because in the past the neighbors did bad things to his family because they have a lot of money it passed seven years an Camila died to young she was 49 years old, and now Paloma is alone in life, she is and orphan girl with 13 years old Paloma has to live alone in and orphan for 7 years to have the mayority age (20 years) That she can make her life alone like a mature woman.
The first think that she did was to go to her house but when she came in she remain old and she has a very big impact when she saw again her father on the floor cover with blood, but fortunately nothing passed her. The days passed and Paloma live with her parents spirits but what she didn´t know was that there were more spirits than her parents she investigated about it an she discovered that her parents called very nice, good, and honest spirits to protect her because the only think that Camila and Emiliano love a lot in this world is Paloma, and if they would never leave her without any support or anything that she needed they gave to her.
So the idea of Camila and Emiliano, was That all those spirits protect her and don´t permit that anyone do anything and she have always the liberty and she has a very nice boyfriend and they got married and they were so happy and were a very nice couple.
They lived in the famous house but when Paloma Knows that she was pregnant they decided to go to another house because of the baby, so Paloma´s Parents decided it was time to leave Paloma and to protect the new family up by the sky: ) and that’s what they do and everyone lived happily !!!

There was long time ago in a big country with many people there where one of the best country on the world but it was only one problem they didn´t have water but well long time ago water was not called water is was called transparent liquid. So that country was dirty and it smell very bad.
One day they didn´t detected more that bad smell so one of the most young man goes for looking transparent liquid. He walked for hours and hours when he arrived to a little village he looked for a place to sleep.
At the next day he woke up early and she to see the little village suddenly he fall down then a strange man help him. Than the young man said thank you and who are you?
I am ….. I am…..
Yes you are______ said the young man.
I´m Marcelino and you?
I am Paul. The young man say
Paul good name. Come with me I will invite you to have tea.
Okey said Paul lest go Come on said Marcelino They walk an the Paul ask where we are going?
We are going to @ coffee a a good he said Paul.
O cool but why do you invite me to have tea? A yes because I notice that you are not from here.
There was a big silence, they continuous walking when they arrive to @ coffee they sit on table and take two teas.
So said Paul what do you want to know about me well said Marcelino, why are you here? what are you looking for? Well I come because I´m looking for a transparent liquid because in my country was buried of that they send my in she earch of it good said Marcelino. May I help you? Sure you know where to find it
Yes, but you have to pass some test for me to show you where is the transparent liquid.
Paul was so desperate that he accept.
In that moment Marcelino was thinking in what form he was going to do that Paul notice the importance transparent liquid.
He was also thinking how to tell him that in the world was not transparent liquid that it only exist in the Gods world.
Obviously Marcelino know it because he was the God of the transparent liquid (later on named God of water).
Later on they go to Marcelino house and then Paul asked what kind of test I have to pass to get the transparent liquid? Well say Marcelino I can´t tell you it will be a surprise.
Hight past and it was morning again only in the morning Paul was in Marcelino´s house to do the test. The first thing that Marcelino said was there are two test the mental and the physic one.
The mental one in light this raid Marcelino you have to answer this questions.
1. For what think you one to use the transparent liquid? Well I will used it drink it if I am dry to and to wash clothes, glasses or dishes and third to pay.
2. Why and it what form you will play with the transparent liquid? That question is very simple why because I can have run and in what form with transparent liquid war or filling a fall out with it and getting in or funning below their sets.
The second test the physical one
He would have to wair kilometers of desert, then , go up and downstairs and then climb a mountain and finally get where Marcelino was.
Old luckily man a god all and when he arrive Marcelino ask him what do you want now? Transparent liquid he said. That’s perfect said Marcelino because you have won it and you are going to be the first human who taste it. Why? Ask Paul, because transparent liquid do not exist on earth it is only in Gods world, but, if you are human why you have to taste it? Simple said Marcelino Because I´m the God of transparent liquid.
Fantastic said Paul you have it no?
Yes, said Marcelino.
So Paul said, why you put me to tests?
Because I want to know it was so important for you now lets go to your country.
Okey, said Paul.
They walk for hours well Paul walks Marcelino flies.
When they arrived Paul presents Marcelino to other people in the country, everybody was so happy because Paul find the god of the transparent liquid, but then a man who´s name was Barobi say yes o amazing you are good but what you do for us?
Okey! bring it said the man.
So Marcelino stand up on the talleres Place of the country and he pronounce some strange words and suddenly it began to rain and waves appeared from anywhere.
Carries everywhere, all the country gave thanks to Marcelino. Later Marcelino say now you are happy he said now help me to think another name for the transparent liquid because it is to long.
Liquid said someone.
Trans said another one.
No, oceans said another.
No, I Know water.Yes, I like that name from now I am Marcelino the God of the water.

Mateo and Julia ( Laura Garzon)

once upon a time ,in a small town ,there was a couple of teenagers who were on a relationship, this relation finished in a terrible tragedy, but to understand this story I am going to start from the beginning of their relation.The girl was called Julia, she was the daughter of an important family of the town, her father was so extrist woth the people who went out with Julia, they needed to be rich people and with a good surname. Then we have the boy, he was called Mateo and was son of a poor family who lived in a small house with only 2 rooms.He lived with 3 brothers more and his mother.So everything started when one day, Julia got out of her house and went for a walk on the principal park.When Mateo was playing with his brother with a ball in the same park,Mateos brother throw the ball so far , that make Mateo run foward to catch the ball. Suddenly and, like a coincidence, the ball fall at the feet of Juila and when Mateo looked at her he see her beautifull eyes he stayed in shock and Julia sayed hello to Mateo, and Mateo wokeup of his shock and sayed hello to o. So Julia smiled and presents herself like Mateo did.When Mateo saw that julia was part of the rich family Santoroni, he said her thet was better for her not to talk him because he was a ppor man and Julias father would not accept him, so he was going to leave with his brother but before he leaved, Julia maked Mateos promise something, she maked promise him that she would see him again,he didnt have more choice to say yes,but just a second later ,Julias brother MarcoSantorini, who saw what Julia was doing, he got so mad cause he thinks exactly like his father about who needs to be the people who talk to Julia but he dont do it cause take care of his sister, no he do it for himself,not to be related with any poor person in the rich group of people, so he make Mateo an advisement telling him that if he see him again close his sister, he saw Julias eyes at last time and he go away with his brother.
After days and days of see Julia without the knowledge of Julietas family, they start to begin a love relation ship. They started to see each other more frequently the next 6 months. They scaped from their houses and go to the near forest and talk each other. One day Mateos mother get mad but he get scared about her son, and warn him like Marco, she said that , relationship will bring him big problems if he continued with it. Mteo don’t hear to the advisement and try to calm her mother telling her not to get scared, because any one know of there relationship on the Santorini family. His mother got calm a little bit but she still being worried about this dangerous relation.

After months of the relation and secretly dates, Marco started to suspect of Julia and one night she followed her up to the forest and he hided back of a tree and saw how Mateo appeared acrossed the trees and taked Julias hard and kissed her. Marco got full of angry cause he saw that Mateo didn’t hear to his advisement and continued seeing Julia. So Marco decide to do what everything he needed to do to kill Mateo .So he waited until he has the opportunity to escape of the forest without being discovered.
That night Marco didn’t sleep thinking how to kill Mateo. His angry egoism and his evil make him choose the most horrible and evil option, he decided to make a pact with the devil . He remember that one day he hear how to convoke the devil, so he prepared everything, and one night he didn’t went to a party with his family so when his parents and his sister went out of the house, he started to convoke the devil. Then suddenly all the lights went off and a strange big ball of fire appeared and inside it got out the most horrible creature, the devil would poison Mateo if Marco promised that he would give his soul if Julia got suicide, Marco didn’t worry about his promise and he accept it. The devil emitted an evil laugh and disappeared throw the same big fire ball that extinguished it self when the devil was inside it. Marco was satisfied.

The devil fulfill what he promised he poison a drink that Mateo drank, the venom make Mateo die. When Julian know about Mateo death, she fall in a depression of 3 months. She didn’t talk, sleep and she didn’t eat most nothing. But what people didn’t know about Julias depression is that in that period of time something magical occurred. This was what happened when Mateo die, his soul stay in the earth, and start to follow Julia and talk her. At the beginning Julia thought that was a product of her imagination and was only thinking Mateo so she didn’t pay attention to the voice but with the time she saw that was real and try to believe in the voice. Then she discovered her power, her depression disappeared and talked to Mateo everything for the next 3 months .
One day Julia call Mateo and told him that she has decided to get suicide to go with him to the heaven. he said that he don´t want Julia. Finish her life because of him, but he can´t do anything when Julia take a knife and kill herself. At the same time Marco, who was on a party suddenly fell a hard ache and he fall down during at that instant. The people of the town say that they can hear something that craf the trees every night a when Julia died her parents rivoed out and people said their hear voices on Julia´s bedroom every night too.

Vallenato Leyend Festival

What is Vallenato?

•Vallenato, along with cumbia, is presently the most popular folk music of Colombia. It primarily comes from the Colombia's Caribbean region. Vallenato literally means "born in the valley". The valley influencing this name is located between the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Serranía de Perijá in northeast Colombia. The name also applies to the people from the city where this genre originated: Valledupar.

The Vallenato Legend Festival

•Is one of the most important musical festivals in Colombia, every year by the end of April, in the city of Valledupar, the Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata (Vallenato Legend Festival) is celebrated. During the festival a contest takes place in which the best Vallenato interpreters fight for the title of Rey Vallenato (Vallenato accordion King), "verseadores", new song composers, "guacharaqueros" and "cajeros" are also awarded within three categories; professional, aficionado and infant. The festival also includes record industry's orchestras shows, as well as battle of lyrics and best song.

What is the Vallenato Legend?

•The Legend: The legend says that during the Spanish colonial period, two Amerindian tribes from the Tairona culture; the Tupes and the Chimilas, along with other members of other tribes, rebelled against the Spanish colonizers after one indigenous woman named Francisca who worked as a maid for a Spanish family was severely punished by her jealous master, who cut her hair and whipped her publicly. One of her fellow Indian tribesmen also working for the Spaniards, escaped and told his tribe's cacique about this offensive insult. The angry Indians organized an attack, destroying most of the town and killing many people. When trying to destroy the temple, the "Virgin of the Rosario" appeared and with her cape blocked their arrows preventing them from destroying it. The natives, scared, escaped to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, and knowing that the Spaniards would follow them and would be in need of drinking water, they poisoned the "Sicarare lake". This resulted in the death of all the Spaniards involved. The Virgin reappeared and began touching their bodies with her wand and reviving them. The surprised Indians finally surrendered.

Dancers and other events of the festival

•Piloneras Parade: This traditional dance was recovered from extinction in 1994 thanks to the Vallenato Legend Festival Foundation effort, and was added to the festival's programing as the opening show. This dance is traditional of the magdalena river reveres. Traditionally Dancers paraded on the streets using a giant wooden mortar and pestle, (usually used to squash corn and produce corn floor), the men and women danced around the "corn smashing' in a courteous and flirting way, dancing in front of friend's houses to receive liquor in exchange. But the festival kept the dance and turn it into a competition among groups of Piloneros and whoever exposes the best show becomes the winner. There are three categories; Infants, youth and adults.
•Other events:
•Record labels present their best artists and orchestras through out the Festival, usually before, during recess of events and after competition.
•Many Nightclubs and Event Centers offer alternative parties with vallenato musical groups and other orchestras.
•Certain families affiliated to this Festival often throw open "parrandas" or parties to special guests and friends.
•The Festival also sponsors cultural activities related to the festival; debates, symposia, panel discussions, traditional storytelling, paintings expositions, artesanias and book expositions, among other cultural events. Valledupar and surrounding towns have cockfight arenas, that have tournaments during the Festival dates. This sport considered brutal for some represent a major attraction for locals and some tourists, but are not sponsored by the Vallenato Legend Festival. This sport is a strong traditional hobby for some locals (passion for some) mixed with vallenato "parrandas" and lots of gambling.

Oscar WIlde

Oscar Wilde (1854-1900), Irish dramatist, poet, and author wrote the darkly sardonic Faustian themed The Picture of Dorian Gray (1891);

Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was born in Dublin on 16 October 1854. His father was a successful surgeon and his mother a writer and literary hostess. Wilde was educated at Trinity College, Dublin and Magdalen College, Oxford. While at Oxford, Wilde became involved in the aesthetic movement. After he graduated, he moved to London to pursue a literary career. His output was diverse. A first volume of his poetry was published in 1881 but as well as composing verse, he contributed to publications such as the 'Pall Mall Gazette', wrote fairy stories and published a novel 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' (1891). His greatest talent was for writing plays, and he produced a string of extremely popular comedies including 'Lady Windermere's Fan' (1892), 'An Ideal Husband (1895)' and 'The Importance of Being Earnest' (1895). 'Salomé' was performed in Paris in 1896. Drama and tragedy marred Wilde's private life. He married Constance Lloyd in 1884 and they had two sons, but in 1891 Wilde began an affair with Lord Alfred Douglas, nicknamed 'Bosie'. In April 1895, Wilde sued Bosie's father, the Marquis of Queensberry, for libel, after the Marquis has accused him of being homosexual. He spent the rest of his life in Europe, publishing 'The Ballad of Reading Gaol' in 1898. He died in Paris on 30 November 1900.

Abraham Lincoln life:

Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865), the sixteenth President of the United States, successfully led the country through its greatest internal crisis, the American Civil War, preserving the Union and ending slavery. Assassinated as the war was drawing to a close, Lincoln had been the first Republican elected to the Presidency. Before his presidency, he was a lawyer, an Illinois state legislator, a member of the United States House of Representatives, and twice an unsuccessful candidate for election to the Senate.

As an outspoken opponent of the expansion of slavery in the United States,[1][2] Lincoln won the Republican Party nomination in 1860 and was elected president later that year. His tenure in office was occupied primarily with the defeat of the secessionist Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. He introduced measures that resulted in the abolition of slavery, issuing his Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and promoting the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which passed Congress before Lincoln's death and was ratified by the states later in 1865.
Lincoln closely supervised the victorious war effort, especially the selection of top generals, including Ulysses S. Grant. Historians have concluded that he handled the factions of the Republican Party well, bringing leaders of each faction into his cabinet and forcing them to cooperate. Lincoln successfully defused a war scare with the United Kingdom in 1861. Under his leadership, the Union took control of the border slave states at the start of the war. Additionally, he managed his own reelection in the 1864 presidential election.Opponents of the war (also known as "Copperheads") criticized Lincoln for refusing to compromise on the slavery issue. Conversely, the Radical Republicans, an abolitionist faction of the Republican Party, criticized him for moving too slowly in abolishing slavery. Even with these road blocks, Lincoln successfully rallied public opinion through his rhetoric and speeches; his Gettysburg Address is but one example of this. Childhood and education
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, to Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks, two uneducated farmers, in a one-room log cabin on the Sinking Spring Farm, in southeast Hardin County, Kentucky (now part of LaRue County), making him the first president born outside the original Thirteen Colonies. Lincoln's ancestor Samuel Lincoln had arrived in Hingham, Massachusetts from England in the 17th century, but his descendants had gradually moved west, from Pennsylvania to Virginia and then westward to the frontier.

Assassination:

Originally, John Wilkes Booth, a well-known actor and a Confederate spy from Maryland, had formulated a plan to kidnap Lincoln in exchange for the release of Confederate prisoners. After attending an April 11 speech in which Lincoln promoted voting rights for blacks, an incensed Booth changed his plans and determined to assassinate the president.[64] Learning that the President and First Lady would be attending Ford's Theatre, he laid his plans, assigning his co-conspirators to assassinate Vice President Andrew Johnson and Secretary of State William H. Seward.
Without his main bodyguard Ward Hill Lamon, to whom he related his famous dream regarding his own assassination, Lincoln left to attend the play Our American Cousin on April 14, 1865. As a lone bodyguard wandered, and Lincoln sat in his state box (Box 7) in the balcony, Booth crept up behind the President and waited for what he thought would be the funniest line of the play ("You sock-dologizing old man-trap"), hoping the laughter would muffle the noise of the gunshot. When the laughter began, Booth jumped into the box and aimed a single-shot, round-slug 0.44 caliber Henry Deringer at his head, firing at point-blank range. Major Henry Rathbone momentarily grappled with Booth but was cut by Booth's knife. Booth then leapt to the stage and shouted "Sic semper tyrannis!" (Latin: Thus always to tyrants) and escaped, despite a broken leg suffered in the leap.[65] A twelve-day manhunt ensued, in which Booth was chased by Federal agents (under the direction of Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton). He was eventually cornered in a Virginia barn house and shot, dying of his wounds soon after.
